VIDEO: DIY BCAA Gummy Bears

Looking for a low carb, low calorie, sweet treat?? Here you go!

Need:
  • 3 Gelatin Packs (Unflavored)
  • 1 Scoop BCAA
  • 1/2 Cup Room Temperature Water
  • Gummy Molds
Process:
Mix Scoop of BCAAs with 1/2 cup of water. Add 3 packs of gelatin and mix well. Pour mixture into a sauce pan and let simmer for 4-5 minutes over medium heat. Pre-treat your molds with a non stick cooking spray (spray onto a paper towel and swipe each mold–this will help when it’s time to remove your gummies). Fill your molds (I needed two batches of the mixture for my 4 molds). Place molds in freezer for 20-25 minutes. Pop out and Enjoy!
Note: For the exact Molds and Gelatin Packs I used the links are below! 🙂

But wait, What are BCAAs??
15 – 20% of the human body is made up of protein. Protein plays a crucial role in almost all biological processes. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein therefore the building blocks of life. BCAA stands for Branch Chain Amino Acids and refers to a group of three amino acids, leucine, isoleucine, and valine. BCAAs can be found in any food containing protein, such as eggs or meat. Most often BCAAs are taken in drink form as an intra-workout (meaning you drink it during your workout). Some benefits of BCAAs are improved muscle growth, increased endurance, greater fat burn, reduced fatigue, increased mental focus, improved recovery and reduced muscle soreness to name a few.

Hi! What would you suggest to be a serving? I know a scoop of BCAAs is a serving, so would your recipe that you made be considered a serving (1 scoop BCAA and 3 packets of gelatin)? Thanks!

Hey Alexa! Great question! It’s a little tricky to determine a serving size based on macros alone. The suggested serving for the gelatin packs is 1/4 packet, so each packet serves four. One serving size is 5 calories and 2g protein; so based on that 3 packets would be 24g protein and 60 calories. Additionally 1 scoop of BCAAs is about 2g protein as well. One batch made slightly more than one tray of gummy bears (that tray had 50 bear molds). All of that to say, if you did eat a batch in one sitting it wouldn’t be the worst snack; it would be very low/no carb, approx 26g protein and approx 60 calories although I don’t think you would want down that much in a sitting 🙂 Hope this helps! 🙂

    WOW!
Never thought gummy bears could be healthy and used to replace BCAA shakes. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

No problem Jurica!! I’ve also heard if you add citric acid you can make them sour 🙂 Enjoy!
